Tracking legal challenges to state AI regulation in the United States
States are regulating the use of artificial intelligence in many ways, from mandating that the public must be told when they are engaging with AI, requiring the disclosure of the data used for training generative AI, regulating the use of AI for life-altering decisions like health care and prison sentencing, and making AI-generated imagery subject to child pornography laws. Private litigants are now beginning to file lawsuits challenging the legality of the legislation. The federal goverment also now has a Department of Defense AI Litigation Task Force, with the mission of challenging state AI laws. This website tracks these challenges.
